Map Decisions / PRACTICAL GUIDE
Reloading after every short exchange can become an automatic habit. Make the decision around cover, information and the next likely demand.
Recognise the automatic reload
Many players press reload as soon as firing stops, even if the situation has not settled. Notice whether you are acting because the weapon needs attention or because the sound of shooting ended. The right decision depends on the weapon, mode and immediate pressure, so this article deliberately avoids a universal ammunition threshold.

Find an actual window
A window is more than a brief silence. Consider whether you are behind useful cover, whether another angle remains exposed and whether teammates have relevant information. If the situation is uncertain, repositioning first may make the decision clearer. Do not assume that the last visible opponent was the only possible threat.
Know the alternative before committing
Think about where you would move if pressure returned during the action. The available alternatives depend on the game’s current mechanics and your loadout; inspect those mechanics rather than assuming an old guide guarantees a cancel or weapon-switch behaviour. A good habit is to pair the decision with a safe position, not to rely on a complicated escape sequence.
Review the lost window
When a reload goes badly, reconstruct what you knew before pressing the button. Was the cover incomplete? Did you ignore a nearby route? Did you simply reload out of habit? Choose the repeated decision error rather than blaming every interruption on bad luck. Practice should make the timing more deliberate, not make you afraid to reload when there is a sensible opportunity.
